THINK PINK
It’s October again! Each year in the month of October the caring members of the public don their Pink Ribbons in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, to champion the survivors and to remember those we have lost to breast cancer.
This year, MODA (Malaysian Official Designers Association) has planned 3 major activities to raise funds and awareness together with beauty giant, Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia. MODA is also very happy to have tremendous support from leading malls, hotels, hair and makeup teams and companies to contribute to our initiative.
1. Pink Vending Machines (Oct 1st - 30th)
Beginning on 1 October 2020, 16 of MODA’s fashion designers have come together to each create unique merchandise to be sold at vending machines placed at 4 leading shopping malls in the Klang Valley, namely, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Mid Valley Megamall, Sunway Pyramid, Avenue K and The Mall South Key Mid Valley,JB.
The designers involved are Ashley@kapas, Brian Khoo, Celest Thoi, Chee of GOCHEEKS, Double U by Jimmy Wong, Ellie Lim, Keith Kee, Key Ng, Kit Woo, Leslie Variyan, Lue Syn, Melinda Looi, Melson Kuala Lumpur, Stephanie van Dalen, Styled by Peter Lum and YULEZA by YouSheng.
The range of pink merchandise includes hair accessories, brooches, lapel pins, scarves, handbag charm and face masks, among others. The vending machines are generously sponsored by YL Creative Vending Enterprise. Funds raised from the sale of the merchandise would be donated to four organisations at the forefront of breast cancer initiatives namely the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia, Cancer Research Malaysia, College of Radiology
Malaysia and National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
2. Pink Buddies' Day Out (Oct 3rd)
Pink Buddies’ Day Out on Saturday 3 October 2020, would be something a little more intimate in celebrating the survivors and their respective buddies who supported them through a most difficult journey. Survivors share their stories and the special person who was with them through it all. Be it a friend, spouse, family member or even complete strangers, it tells of the importance of having someone beside them through a most arduous time in their life. The 16 most touching stories will be invited to the Pink Buddies’ Day Out. Each pair of winners (a survivor and her buddy) will be
treated to a beauty makeover, hair styling by Miko Galère, dressed and accessorised by participat ing Malaysian designers, professional photography, a video to record the heartwarming stories and memories of the occasion and last but not least a dinner and stay at the luxuriously trendy W Kuala Lumpur await the lucky pairs!

3. Pink Distance Parade (Oct 10th)
Last but certainly not least will be the Pink Distance Parade on Saturday 10th October 2020. A fun, creative event where the public can show their support by participating in a parade taking place at Pavilion KL. Groups of between 2 to 4 persons each will be expected to walk together in creative pink costumes while respecting the ‘new normal’ practice of wearing facial masks & social distancing. Think of ridiculously hooped skirts, super-extended shoulder details, gigantic hats, or huge shoes, etc, to ensure that each group member stays at least 1-metre from each other. An event guaranteed to showcase creativity & definitely fun! Top 3 best dressed teams will win hampers generously sponsored by Estee Lauder Companies Malaysia and luxurious staycation at Pavillion Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
MODA would also like to take this opportunity to offer our heartfelt thanks to all the partners for their endless support and faith in us and our endeavours.
